When Skippy Heart met DOMinus . .
It has been just a few months now since I started this site when thru the wonders of the Internet I have met several online folks that even though just virtual friendship yet somehow became close to my heart... One of them is Dom Lawrence, OSB.
As a community member of the Blogsphere site, I, just like all the members there go visit other members site and can message each other....then one day I got a simple generic message from Dom thanking me for visiting his site... of all the sites I click on to visit, I honestly do not remember which one was his site... so I decided to clicked on his avatar profile link which directed me to his blog. I learned of him as a modern-day Monk at a Monastery in New Mexico. As a courtesy, I then reply-message to him too and I thought that was the end of it...
It is a reality that I have good and bad days because of my health condition, and that was the main reason why I started my Skippy Heart.com personal site and this site as to document these moments. One day when I was not feeling well I decided to post the song "Lord I Offer My Life To You" and then Dom made a comment on how much he likes the song and that he would pray for me from then on. As a heartfelt gratitude, I sent him a CD of the song and then after that a Blessed Spiritual friendship started between us, and I do believe that Dom is Angel on Earth sent by God to be a part of my life through his Prayers.
I have been a busy bee at work these past few days so I have been neglecting to check on Blogsphere and the sites I frequent....then Monday night, the 20th, before retiring for the night, I decided to scan my sites for questions or messages...I then read a comment by Dom that he would be going back home due to personal family matters, and that If I could meet him at the airport Tuesday evening during his long lay-over before his next flight? I was not sure if he would still be able read my late reply e-mail where I said "Yes, I would be able see him". But then I guess, the Lord really wanted us to meet in person so Dom was able to hook up to the Internet before leaving from his flight to Los Angeles and read my reply e-mail.
I then texted him on his cell that I am already on the way to the airport and he texted me back on where he was and what he was wearing as for me to recognize him easily. I arrived at the airport about 6:30 p.m. and I got another text message from him again that he would be waiting at the foot of the elevator going up to the Daily Grill Restaurant...tired from work I guess I did not read his text clearly so I thought he would be at the front of the Daily Grill where I went straight...5 minutes gone by and still no sight of Dom...It was funny because he was at the first floor and I was at the second floor same location :) well then I decided to re-read his text so I went down and finally saw him standing there...we hugged then went up again and sat down at the restaurant tables and chairs area and talked and talked and talked...he! he! actually he did most of the talking because the situation was kinda awkward for me... It was the first time for me to meet someone I just knew online...but I am glad I did it anyway because he is such a wonderful and special person. He gave me a beads bracelet for health and a Cross key-chain before we parted ways for him to check-in for his long flight home.
To Dearest Brother Lawrence: It was nice meeting you in person. Thank you for your prayers and friendship...your sister In-Christ, Rebecca :)
